“The best medicine for tomorrow – Today.” – Dr. Gladys Taylor McGarey

At 95 years young, Dr. Gladys Taylor McGarey, is incredibly sharp and funny.  When I first met her, I was so amazed with her wisdom. You know when you attend so many seminars that you could hardly remember who is who.  Dr. McGarey is not one you will forget.

Enjoy watching the video “Why You Need These 5 L’s”.

Greg Reid: Put your hands together for Dr. Gladys by the way.

Now, you started a non-profit Foundation that Allyn and I blessed to be served on the board of the directors. What is it called?

Dr. Gladys: The Foundation for Living Medicine.

Greg: The Foundation for Living Medicine. Why did you come up with that name?

Dr. Gladys: Well, all the medicines the way I was taught and still is being taught in medical schools.

It’s about killing. You kill bacteria, raticate AIDS, eliminate diabetes. Our languages are against life itself. It’s the Antibiotics, anticonvulsive.

The one that really gets me is the anti-aging thing. What do we supposed to do? You know.

Won’t it be better to age into health? So it’s our foundation is focused on life and living.

I have come up at 5 Ls, The foundation for living medicine.

Greg: I’ll give you time for 2. No, I’m just kidding.

Dr. Gladys: Shut up. Laughing. Cheering, clapping.  It’s wonderful being this age. You can say things like that. Laughing…

5 Ls are first is life. If you are not alive, nothing counts.

The second is love. Without love no healing really happen. You can kill the diseases, but you cannot heal the persons. So love is essential. You have to love yourself. You know, love is pivotal.

The third is laughter. You need to put some juice into it. I know there a lot of people who have the first two, but you know, there’s no fun. You really have to get some juice into it to really let it alive.

The 4th is labor. You have to work at it. Again, we know people have a lot of the first three, but they’re not willing to work. You have to be able to work at it.

The fifth is listening. We listen to all kinds of stuff. But until we listen, have some choices of what we listen to. Listen to ourselves. Listen to the physician within each one of us. And then listen to the world around you and go forward.

Those are the five Ls that I came up for living medicine. Then you can build on it.

Yesterday, we mentioned… Some body here, I forgot who it was. She’s said, “Yes, but you have to have..” the hmm… what was it, what was the word, “You have to believe in it.”

You actually have to move toward. But that’s all tied up. Take the five’s as your foundation and then build your own structure on those five’s.

So that’s the basis for Living Medicine.

Greg: Put your hands together for Dr. Gladys.

Dr. Gladys: I’m going to be still around 2 this afternoon to answer questions.

Greg: When you have a chance to hang around the living legend and take a picture, share her message, Tweet out to the public. Please be so kind to do so because our whole goal is to get her message of living medicine to a world wide community.

Greg: Put your hands together for doctor Gladys. Thank you very much.
