If you want to move ahead in life whether it’s in business or personal life, but you are stopped by fears. This is for you.
Today’s story is a little bit on the technical side. I thought I should share some behind the scene experience that you might find helpful or interesting.
I’m going to share my experience after completing a challenge by sending an email to my list every weekday (5 days per week) for one month. Here is more detail of that challenge if you’ve not read it.
MY EXCUSES and FEARS:
I almost didn’t take on the challenge because my time was too tight. I’ve three other challenges going on as I’m writing this. I knew writing daily would take up too much time and focus away from doing other things.
At this time, my higher priority is launching my Podcast.
However, my primary concern was that people the list would complain about getting emails daily from me. Why do something that people don’t like, right?
Fear that my topics aren’t resonating with my readers.
Frankly, I wasn’t concern about people unsubscribed from the email list. I looked at it this way. If people wanted to receive free valuable tips from me, then that would be the real test.
My curiosity kicked me and twisted my arms to start writing. It forced me to write every day.
RESULTS and LESSONS LEARNED:
The end results? Drum roll, please….
It turned out. I was dead wrong!
One person unsubscribed the first day when I informed my list of my intention for the next 30 days.
There was no complaint. People opened the email to read every day. In fact, they gave me feedback and encouragement.
I even tested to evaluate the most opens or clicks rate by sending the email out at different times of the day between 6 AM – 9 PM. Since I was sending an email already, why didn’t I test it too?
Don’t waste your time trying to figure out the exact best time to send the email. My suggestion is to focus on higher priority tasks that matter most to your end goal. Especially if you are starting up a new business.
However, do your best to come up with interesting titles. This increases your open rate.
If your clients connect with you, and you provide them legit and valuable content that matters to them, they will read your email at their convenience time. I noticed some of them opened the email a few weeks later.
Now that I got a taste of it, I don’t mind continue writing the email daily when I’ve more time to focus on writing. The only drawback about this, it was too much time-consuming from the start and to the time I finally hit the SEND button.
Overall, I’m glad that I did it. It was a great experience. That guy, Ben Settle, is right about emailing!
In my case, to find out the truth and stop the fears, I need to stop telling myself a story that might not happen and to take action.
Give yourself a try: Stop telling yourself a story that might not happen and take action. Wonderful things could start to happen for you.
