Are you a small business owner? If your answer is Yes, have you been trying to come up with your own USP?

And No, I am not mistyping for the “UPS” which stands for United Parcel Service. You know, the people wear the brown uniform, driving brown deliver truck and dropping off shipment at your front door. It’s not them.

If you’re a small business owner, there is no need for me to go into details that you have to wear many hats as part of your daily operation. It’s more of “How many hats do you wear?”

I think you can relate with me if you are a small business owner. I found myself having to learn a third, wild and strange language: Marketing.  As I’m starting to learn this new language and putting the pieces together, I’ve discovered that I couldn’t putting the marketing pieces together unless I’ve a USP.

Sales Hook and USP

What is a USP? Is it another language?

Well, it’s part of the Marketing. Entrepreneur defines USP as “The factor or consideration presented by a seller as the reason that one product or service is different from and better than that of the competition .”

Some people might give great reasons that you don’t need to a USP. After going through the same circles too many times already, I can share with you my experiences that if you own a business, you must have a USP.

A great USP seems and sounds very simple, yet it is not so simple. By the way, have you noticed that the simple things in life are the most difficult things to do/achieve?

I’ve been follow this comedian turned copywriter for a few months now. His name is Kevin Rogers who operates the Copy Chief. He’s one of the copywriters who shares FREE real tools and ideas that make sense to me and I can actually implement them.

The following are two free tools you can get from Kevin Rogers and a special promotion he currently offers at the I write this blog:

  1. Keving Rogers has an incredible sweet deal on getting clarity for your business, USP, working one-on-one with him plus lots more stuff. If you are serious about your success, I encourage you to check it out. Not free, but I think it is a great deal if he delivers what he said in the sales letter.
  2. Check out Kevin “The 60-Second Sales Hook”. It’s good!
  3. Free USP BUILDER’S TOOLSET:  Ross O’Lochlainn is a former engineer wrote this fantastic blog on Copy Chief about USP: HOW TO SELL LIKE THE UFC.  If you click on that link, it’ll take you to the blog post that explains what is a USP. At the end of that blog, you’ll see the optin box to get The step-by-step “GET YOUR COPY OF THE USP BUILDER’S TOOLSET.”  He uses UFC fights as examples. Their readers probably mostly male and UFC fans. If you are not a UFC fan, like me, don’t worry. Just pay attention to the content. Just think of it as you are reading about a different flavor of dark chocolate and sipping your favorite hot tea.

I thought I share this information with you and hope you find it a step closer to living your fulfilling life. I don’t get pay for sharing this info with you. I’d be nice though if I could pick their brains about copywriting some days. Hey, aren’t we all a dreamer? 🙂

If you haven’t read my book, you should it get here. Oh, it would be great for GIFTS.
